Jerry Sears, Author
Jerry is the author of five books: "Political Corruption", "Making Rain,"
"Generating Trust," "A Course in Miracles in 5 Minutes," and "Career
Miracles."
Jerry has an MBA from New York University, a BA in Economics from
Queens College. He graduated from Officer Candidate School at the
Coast Guard Academy and received his honorable discharge 8 yrs
later.
Jerry has spent fifty years as a venture capitalist, investment banker
and executive recruiter. During these years he reviewed thousands
of financial offerings, and as a partner in a major investment banking
firm, has funded more than $3 billion in equity and debt.
He was Chairman of the Executive Committee of MIDA, a U.S.
merchant bank in Africa. MIDA's main office was in Accra, Ghana with
additional offices in Nairobi, Kenya, and Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He was
also a director and then Chairman of the Illinois Industrial
Development Authority, a state financing agency.
Thirty years ago, Jerry joined Dunhill, the a large executive recruiting
firm and formed his own firm five years later, Sears & Associates. He
specialized in recruiting senior management for Fortune 500 firms
and in merging law firms nationally and internationally.
In 2005, Jerry and his wife, Ellen, retired to Boulder Colorado where
Ellen trades the futures market and Jerry writes books, mostly
novels.

Prior to launching Boulder Publishers, Ellen spent forty years as a
private investor, venture capitalist, investment banker and Internet
entrepreneur. During these years she built and profitably sold three
of her own businesses, funded more than fifty start-up companies
and used her marketing expertise to help clients develop and
implement growth strategies.
In 1994 Ellen launched one of the earliest online buying guide web
sites, The Broadband Telephony Buyers Guide. In 1997, the web
site was purchased by PennWell Publishing, a major publisher of
over forty trade publications and promoter of five international trade
shows. Ellen joined PennWell becoming the CEO of their Internet
division, Pennwell Media Online. At PennWell Ellen was responsible
for launching web strategies for their trade publications.
As an investor in technology companies, Ellen was an active
member of the AeA (formerly the American Electronics Association)
and while serving as the Chairman of the Florida Counsel (three
years) was a Member of the Board of Directors (two years) The AeA
is the world's largest technology lobbying organization.
In 1997, after leaving PennWell, Ellen launched an Internet
Consulting firm, which, in 2000, partnered with South Florida's
largest regional Accounting firm, Rachlin, Cohen and Holtz, (now
Marcum LLP) to form e-techStrategies, LP. Ellen, as the Managing
Partner, was responsible for working with entrepreneurial Internet
start-ups to file patents, build web-based technology platforms and
raise first round funding.
In 2005, Jerry and his wife, Ellen, retired to Boulder Colorado where
Ellen trades the futures market and Jerry writes books, mostly
novels.
